HS HYOSUNG ADVANCED MATERIALS 2025.07.29

- Showcasing the Excellence of Tire Cords, Carbon Fiber, and Aramid to Focus on Global Market Expansion
- CEO Seong Nak-yang Vows to Strengthen HS HYOSUNG ADVANCED MATERIALS Global Presence Under Its New Name

HS HYOSUNG ADVANCED MATERIALS announced its participation in two major industry exhibitions: Tire Technology Expo 2025, the world’s leading tire exhibition taking place in Hannover, Germany from March 4 to 6, and JEC World 2025, the largest global composites event, held in Paris, France.

These exhibitions mark the company’s first participation since its rebranding as HS HYOSUNG ADVANCED MATERIALS, following its spin-off under the leadership of Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang. The company plans to promote its position as the world’s top tire cord manufacturer and raise global awareness of its proprietary carbon fiber brand TANSOME® and aramid yarn brand ALKEX®, as it expands its reach in international markets.

Seong Nak-yang, CEO of HS HYOSUNG ADVANCED MATERIALS, stated that these global exhibitions hold significant meaning as the company’s first major international events since its launch. He added that the company aims to strengthen its position as a trusted partner by engaging directly with global customers and offering tailored solutions.

Held annually in Germany since 2000, the Tire Technology Expo is the world’s largest trade fair dedicated to tire technology. The event brings together over 240 tire-related exhibitors from around the globe to showcase their latest technologies and products. It also hosts the Tire Technology Expo Conference, featuring presentations from leading companies and institutions in the industry.

HS HYOSUNG ADVANCED MATERIALS, participating for the second time since 2020, will present a range of tire reinforcement products at this year’s exhibition. These include ultra-high tenacity tire cords, which contribute to weight reduction and improved fuel efficiency, and ultra-high modulus tire cords, designed to enhance tire handling and performance. The company aims to showcase its technological excellence and product quality while holding business and technical meetings with customers to expand product sales.

Tire reinforcement materials are essential components embedded in tires to enhance safety, durability, and driving performance.HS HYOSUNG ADVANCED MATERIALS develops, manufactures, and supplies a wide range of reinforcement materials, including fiber-based tire cords made from nylon, polyester, and lyocell, as well as steel-based materials such as steel cords and bead wires.

Held annually in Paris, France, JEC World is the world’s largest trade show dedicated to composite materials. First launched in 1965, the exhibition brings together over 1,300 companies from more than 100 countries, offering a global platform for product launches, conferences, and live demonstrations, making it a central hub for business in the composites industry.

HS HYOSUNG ADVANCED MATERIALS has participated in JEC World since 2013. At this year’s event, which is expected to draw key stakeholders from the upstream carbon fiber industry, the company will showcase applications of its proprietary carbon fiber brand TANSOME®, including high-pressure vessels for hydrogen vehicles, structural components for automobiles, and cable cores for power transmission. HS HYOSUNG ADVANCED MATERIALSs plans to meet with more than 100 client companies during the event. Also on display will be products made with ALKEX®, the company’s high-strength aramid yarn. ALKEX® is widely used in protective equipment such as bulletproof vests, helmets, and vehicles, as well as in industrial applications including reinforcements for 5G fiber-optic cables, automotive hoses, and belts.

Carbon fiber is a lightweight yet ultra-strong material—about one-quarter the weight of steel but over 10 times stronger in tensile strength. Demand is growing rapidly across various sectors including high-pressure vessels for hydrogen and CNG, automotive components, and wind turbine blades. In 2010, HS HYOSUNG ADVANCED MATERIALS became the first company in Korea to develop high-strength carbon fiber TANSOME® using proprietary technology and has operated its Jeonju plant since 2013. The company is also expanding its production footprint to China and Vietnam. In 2022, the company successfully developed H3065, an ultra-high-strength carbon fiber more than 14 times stronger than steel. With this breakthrough, the company aims to expand mass production and sales for high-performance applications in aerospace, automotive, and aviation—accelerating its journey toward becoming a global top-tier carbon fiber manufacturer.
